I am a 38 year old woman who grew up in moderate poverty in a new and coming neighbourhood of YEG in the 80's. I have found records showing my ancestor's living here in the late 1800's and those ancestors are part of history books now.
I have learnt so much from putting one foot in front of the other through life. Against all the odds and challenges, I am now a power house mother of B:20 G:15 SG (Super Girl aka Step Daughter - Girl):11. I worked in a daycare from the early age of fourteen, caring for up to 21 kids at a time; then becoming a mom from the age of 17.  I not only have raised my kids, but I grew up with other amazing women who have been pillars of strength to me as we watched our children grow. All my "heart string" nieces and nephews are a huge part of my life and the women who raised them are my "heart string" sisters.
As I watch my teenage daughter grow up with no support system around her, I wonder if I can help other people like my daughter who have no one to understand or support them.
Who l am has changed, and who I want to be has changed. It feels like a larger state of an existential crisis. I think that I have made a shift in this perspective and I feel compelled to share my story. If anything, helping future generations of my descendant "Momsters" get through the challenges faced with "feminism" (for lack of a more fitting term right now). Quite honestly, whether research wants to look at this or not, what it takes to make a home and grow a family as "the times" change, is something that I want to instill in generations to come.
This page is set up for all the Momsters like me, who are struggling to keep their lives together; while being a mother, nurturer, medic, time manager, cook, organizer, cleaner, companion, friend, care taker, or any other role that you may play in your families lives. Most of us do so, also while trying to keep a role through employment to add financially to the family as well. That doesn’t even include time for any kind of social life...
If I look at all those roles, and likely they aren’t all the roles in everyone’s lives because I know we are all different; but how can we live up to those expectations?!
This blog is for me to try and figure that out while bouncing ideas off whoever will listen. 🤷🏻

The Momsterism Blog is motivated by my desire to heal my heart, help my daughter heal hers, and bridge a gap if I can for mothers who need to work on their inner Momster.

Momsterism: A theory about how moms struggle to keep their shit together because we have way too much on our plates!
